Work with BLAST

Characteristics of the findings' list

Table 1. Characteristics for ANE84582.1

The number of findings (total) 5
Findings with E-value less than 0.001 4
Max E-value 0.35
The type of list's limit E-value

Table 2. Characteristics for ANE84582.1, word size = 2

The number of findings (total) 6
Findings with E-value less than 0.001 4
Max E-value 6.3
The type of list's limit E-value

Changing the volume of search

Previous E-value (word size =6): 9E-74
New E-value (word size =2): 3E-75
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Actinobacteria; Streptomycetales; Streptomycetaceae; Streptomyces; Streptomyces olivaceus
Choosen taxon (class): Actinobacteria (taxid:201174)
Note:Our sample (bank size) was limited (reduced). E-value depends on the size of the bank, with a decrease in the size of the bank,
the E-value also decreases, which confirms the theoretical information (the E-value has decreased by 30 times).
Score (usual or in bits) doesn't changes

There's a good variety of databases in EBA.
If you need checking of some unusual database, use BLAST in EBA (read manual for more information).
Also there's one interesting option to get your results on e-mail.
But, there's one sad minus - it doesn't support input on accession numbers
If you need in simple interface and do not need in many extra options, if you like UniProt, you can use BLAST in UniProt.
If you need in different databases, if it's important for you to use accesion numbers, many options are necessary for your work, use BLAST on NCBI

Bad matrix (PAM250)

If we use PAM250 instead BLOSUM62 (standard parametres, for ANE84582.1)
E-value increased for more than 10 orders of magnitude, and the number of findings expanded to 8
(more than twice, with a value of word size = 6)
Since the matrix is obsolete, the resulting E-values become larger
